MEET CONNIE

Political Career

“After my time on the national stage and relocating away from Route 66, I felt a strong desire to contribute to the town I hold dear. I began my journey by serving with the Front Royal United Way, where I gained valuable insights into some of our town’s less apparent challenges.

My passion for tradition and history led me to work for a period at the Warren Heritage Society.

In 2017, I was honored with an appointment to the Front Royal Planning Commission, where I currently serve as Vice-Chairman.”

Early Life

My father was a U.S. Navy officer – so I grew up in lots of different places. Because of that upbringing, I am able to appreciate Front Royal’s charm and uniqueness all the more.

I graduated from high school in Uniondale, New York; I graduated from college at the University of South Carolina; and I got a Master’s degree from University College Cork (Ireland).

Career

I graduated from the University of South Carolina as a licensed secondary school teacher, but I worked in the emerging conservative movement instead of teaching. I was on the founding staff of The Heritage Foundation, and in the 1980 Reagan-Bush Campaign I was Chair of his Family Policy Advisory Board. Later I was Executive Vice President of the Free Congress Foundation, and later of the Susan B. Anthony List.

For a long time I lived on the 66, and drove back and forth to work just like 60% of the population of Front Royal.
